1. RIVER THAMES - GRAVESEND REACH - BOREHOLE DRILLING OPERATIONS - on or about 08th March 2023, contractors working on behalf of Baker Hicks will commence borehole drilling operations in Gravesend Reach. These operations are expected to be complete approximately 10 days after commencement. The borehole drilling will be carried out from jack-up barge SKATE 2D, which is pictured. SKATE 2D will drill 4 boreholes, all located outside of the Authorised Channel. SKATE 2D will be towed to and from the working area and between the 4 borehole locations; and will display appropriate lights and shapes as required by the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea. All vessels are requested to keep a minimum of 50m clear of SKATE 2D when she is jacked-up. It is expected that personnel transfers to/from SKATE 2D will be carried out by rigid inflatable boats. The charlet shows the overall works footprint; all 4 borehole locations are within the red-coloured boundary, outside of the Authorised Channel. Requests for vessels to proceed with caution or to pass at slow speed will be made by London VTS on VHF ch.68, in accordance with the Port of London Authority’s Port Information Guide, under ‘London VTS’, section 4. During times where this is applicable, international signals flags ROMEO YANKEE will be displayed on SKATE 2D where they will be visible to vessels. SKATE 2D is equipped with AIS and will maintain a listening watch on VHF ch.68 at all times. Further information will be broadcast as required by London VTS on Channel 68.
2. LIMEHOUSE REACH - CANARY WHARF PIER - INSPECTIONS AND DIVING OPERATIONS -
On or about Monday 20th March 2023, marine contractors working on behalf of Canary Wharf Management will be undertaking inspections of Canary Wharf Pier which are expected to take about two-weeks.
To support these works, pontoons and vessels will be moored in various locations on the inside berth at the pier. Contractors will be working daily between the hours of 08:00 to 18:00, with three nights of overnight operations.
Diving operations will be conducted from the HUNTER and will be timed around low water periods. Requests for vessels to proceed with caution or pass at slow speed will be made by London VTS on VHF ch.14, in accordance with the Port of London Authority’s Port Information Guide, under ‘London VTS’, section 4. HUNTER will display International Code Flags ‘Romeo Yankee (RY)’, ‘Alpha (A)’ and a red flag in accordance with Byelaw 33 as appropriate: Diver’s point of entry to water:
River users should be aware that pontoons and workers will be located on the inside of the pier and therefore not visible. Masters of passing vessels should have due regard for the effects of their wash including the possibility of rebound from the river wall and the combined effect of wash from other vessels. The HUNTER will be on station during working hours and maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 14. Further details will be broadcast by London VTS on VHF Channel 14 as required.
