The stout-hearted Santa Teresa is starting her - long time coming - sail from Medway to Chi tomorrow, v excited. Wind seems to be settling down over the weekend, we'll see how far we get. Have printed out the reams of useful advice to my previous question about this trip and we are fully stocked up with soup.

Any last minute advice? Other than "If it's blowing F7 like the past few days postpone your trip", that is...

Thanks, a welcoming committee sounds like a gas gas gas, especially as we'll be looking/smelling like a couple of water ratties by the time we get there. Won't be making it all the way to Chi in a weekend I don't think, though, even if the gales ignore us we're still doing it slowly in weekend hops, nothing too drastic. Will let you know where/how we get on.

I promise we'll not do anything silly! Will of course be watching the weather, especially keeping an eye on theyr.net, up until we leave Brighton tomoz afternoon. Even our contingency plans have contingency plans, what wiv me being a nervous girlie 'n' all...I get twitchy mooring up with no wind or tide and no other boats around..!

Am feeling quite the social butterfly suddenly..! We are planning on stopping Over at Dover so to speak, so may well see you, woud be fun to meet up...just look out for a flying halo of blonde/red/brown curls - that'll be me. You'll probably see my hair before you see the boat...

Rye would be worth a detour if you are looking for somewhere to stop, but only if you can take the ground. There is a quay wall to lean against. We dropped in there on our way back from Calais last year. Very pretty; but get the tides right and read the pilot book.

If you're going the inshore route be careful past east last,we went through there last Sunday at low tide and there was only six feet under us!

I brought 'Take Five' round from the Medway to Brighton a couple of weekends ago. We did Hoo - Queenboro, Queenboro - Ramsgate and then Ramsgate - Brighton. The 18 hours from Ramsgate to Brighton got a bit dull with fluky north easterlies but it was agood trip. I found that Beachy Head gets a bit boring after you've been staring at it for hours in the twilight, maybe they could paint something on it for us.
