I don't think I'd bother going all the way up to Emsworth it's quite a trek when there are plenty of moorings empty at this time of year just next to his destination. The waiting pontoon offers no advantage over a mooring anyway and the marina has similar issues in the dark as it's not well lit at all in the approach.

I wasn't referring to the marina at Emsworth but the visitors pontoon - this is a doddle / lit all the way. This time of year I agree you could borrow a mooring off HISC that run up to Mill Rythe - although most of the year you get chased off by the ferryboat chap. Best bet is to pinch a HISC mooring or to grab one of the first deep water moorings you come across in Mill Rythe. The later is much more comfortable than the main channel if there is any wind or fishing boats off early. Mine is No.20 if you want to borrow that one but given you're going to be staying Richard won't mind which one you take. It's further in that the channel becomes much more tricky

Since WAAS is only available in North America, it might be of limited utility on the approach to Hayling Island.

See, this is why I find you frustrating. You almost certainly know there is an equivelant system here which uses a different name yet is always referred to as Waas by manufacturers yet you've chosen to nitpick.

If you meant EGNOS, you should have said EGNOS. The manufacturer of my GPS (Garmin) knows the difference.

Weird my Garmin calls it Waas and you and everyone else here knew exactly what I meant so why be so awkward about it?

If your Garmin only says WAAS then it is quite possible that it doesn't receive EGNOS and that you are deluding yourself about its accuracy. That might be worth checking. No need to thank me.

Perhaps if I call it sbas you'll be less confused and irritating? It certainly does receive both but clearly the developers chose one to put in the interface. The implementation is identical so it would be hard for them to implement only one.

My dear fellow, I'm not the one who was confused. I try not to get irritated when people correct my occasional errors.

Sorry it's just you seemed to not understand what I meant when I said Waas even though I thought you were quite knowledgable. I appologise if you genuinely didn't understand, it just seemed like you were being awkward on purpose.

No, I honestly wasn't being awkward on purpose. I just thought you might not have realised that WAAS doesn't work here, though of course an equivalent does.

Well Dylan definitely got it right in delaying the trip; I was at my boat ashore beside Chichester Harbour today, it was pretty breezy all the time - maybe 5-7 SW, but about midday a really nasty prolonged squall of probably F8 went through, complete with horizontal rain...
