Hope you had a good day and very nice to meet you at long last, got home at 12.30 last night....a tad tired.
Now I do remember you saying that you'd rather watch paint drying than drifting...:)

So what have you two been up to and what a cracking day !

Up at Oulton Park Fred, I invited Chris along to watch the event, busy day in Race control.....the last on-track finished at 6.27 within a minute of the curfew!

We go to the drifting events here, my son loves this form of motorsport.

Its usually a big favourite of the "fast and the furious" fans.....arr the smell of burning rubber in your nostrils ;)

Well is big M going to come and make a comment.
Hes done "The Gumball" you know so should be able to come up with something interesting.:)

I mentioned the Gumball to one of the drifters and got three seconds of 'respect'. :)

I had a brilliant day out and thanks to Alec (Unit 18) for making me go.

Got a VIP ticket and all areas access, even out on the track in the course car to 'supervise' the drift racing.

Very interesting sitting in the control tower seeing all the people it takes to make an event happen and remain safe. Lots of different agencies all working together with Alec as Clerk of the Course handing out *******ings to errant drivers.

We had Drifting, Time Attacks, Formula Ford and exhibition displays of stunt motorbikes and two racing trucks which managed to crash on the first lap of their second session.

The Truck Crash.

The Drift Racing.

I also met another forumite - can't remember his handle - who was also an official at the meet. Managed to have a quick but intense boaty talk with him, despite being surrounded by motorheads.

Luckily this all happened at Oulton Park, which is ten minutes from my house, even if I did have to drive down first thing in the morning from Wales.

Thanks Alec and I will be less critical of what was some great motorsport.

T'other forumite was me.....very jealous about your Gumball adventure, sounded fantastic if not a little expensive!!

Thanks for the truck crash vid, I was stuck in the pit lane controlling the cars onto the track so got to see very little of the on-track action (as usual)!!

Good luck with the move and the new boat, you are always welcome down on the East coast....

New boat?? What new boat? I've heard nothing of this.
What yer 'avin now Major?

It's the RIB. You know the one I won't let you anywhere near in case you drive it too slowly.

Thanks Mitch, it's not so much 'new' as more an addition to my growing stable. Great chatting with you. In fact I think I spoke to you longer than I spoke to 'Mr Busy' Alec all day!

There is another truck crash video on YouTube, but I expect more will appear in the coming days.

We were filmed on the Gumball by the Extreme Sports Channel which went out as a six part documentary.

I appear at 07.56 and bizarrely our car (No 118) is seen at 09.14 in a slight continuity error.

Ahhh...that stays with us I'm afraid, although I can confirm his brakes were ok.
The bugger of it was that one of the trucks (the blue one) had a broken wheel.
The circuit isn't equipped with a tow vehicle that can lift trucks (we are the only people that have run them there) so the marshalls had to jack the truck high enough to change the wheel......on soggy grass!!!
They did a fantastic job under difficult circumstances, but it shot the rest of the days schedule to pieces so I wasn't able to take afternoon tea with the Major as planned.
Stills of the crash and damage here. http://www.brsccnw.com/eddiex%20truck%20pictures.htm

I'm off to the GT1's at Silverstone this weekend where I can just sit and watch.
