newbridge coromandel

any tips on what weak points to look out for....
help appreciated..
Some information here - mainly to do with the Corribee rather than the Coromandel. If there are any particular points you want to check there are a number of specific articles in the Technical section of the site (links on RH side).
Also check the Yahoo discussion group - there are quite a few junk rig owners who contribute regularly.

I assume that's one with the aforementioned hinge. It's a couple of feet above the deck, and when sailing would be hidden inside the sliding sleeve.

I'm more curious how they managed to make a tabernacle support a freestanding mast.

Just imagine a normal tabernacle but instead of being bolted to the deck it is extended by a couple of feet and through bolted to the stump. Crude with many point loads on a round mast by a square tabernacle.

Some of the bolts are hidden by the sail. The mast is split halfway up the stainless section. Take out one bolt and the mast can be dropped back, pivoting on the bolt near the top of the stainless piece.

whats she worth

well had a look gentleman is asking @£3000 for her she has lost her gaiter at the base of the sail and has been sealed up with black mastic, headlinings are coming away, small triangle of grp at the bow needs mending were she has had a dink and it has cracked and is moving about presume will let water in,very mouldy musty inside bearing in mind she is moored ashore on a trailer, outboard is ancient 2 stroke, sails are patched, mast seems to have moved through the coachroof and pushed the trim down looks like there must be some wooden blocks in there shaped as drifts to tighten up the mast by hammering in from above maybe?hinges on lockers broken, hull seems sound and trailer is a rm? trailer made for the job with washout brakes, all the fittings on topsides seem solid, apart from the concerns with the mast,
I think she might be a little overpriced but then I am the buyer so let me know your thoughts will be appreciated.

wow your not kidding looks like a completly different boat, this one is on a trailer though which would be worth a bit I suppose, will think about an offer maybe.
Must say i thought the layout was pretty good for such a small yacht.

That one doesn't have an RM trailer though, valuable if the OP really wants it.

There's another Coromandel listed at Seedhouses' lower down, 'Beba' going for £1950 in tatty condition it would seem.

I was asked to enquire about a boat on this list by someone not used to the design; I was less than impressed, there weren't even details like a basic inventory; I happen to have seen the boat in question ( not a Coromandel ) it's best described as a 'project'...

condition of trailer is very important - these are expensive. Always prefer to pay "up front" for a better boat than to buy cheap - Agree - this boat is overpriced. Try the specialist junk broker - Sunbird - no connection with me - he seems to have a nice coromandel.

If not young and fit - wait, pay more and get a nice one.

best wishes

Had a look at the sunbird site it is the same one looks better on the photos, maybe i am being to picky but to be honest i did expect it to be in fairly decent order for that sort of money but then again my knowlege of boats is about stamp size sure i can do better for that sort of money though.
