I'm looking at replacing the windows in my Corribee Mk1 this winter. They are plastic, held in by aluminium frames, and the front window is long and bowed. I'll probably need the front window pre-forming.

Can anyone recommend a window manufacturer who is able to offer slightly tinted plastic windows and pre-forming. Any other advice on window replacement appreciated.

Thanks,

Jon

I had new windows made for my Seawych about three years ago by Precision Plastics in Colchester. These are mounted in rubber, not in frames, and the foreward ones had to be preformed. P.P. were happy to use the old windows as patterns to form the new ones. I don't think they overhaul framed windows though, and my local firm Salford House Services, who do overhaul framed windows, were not able to do the forming. Although not exactly the same as the old the new ones were also tinted.

Sorry that may not be a great deal of help although the people who run thes two firms do know each other so ther might be some scope their for co-operation.

Beware of being charged, though, for having male and female moulds made for the forming as someone in the Reigate or Redhill area would have done.

I cannot picture the windows in a Mk1 Corribee so I can't make any comment about whether pre forming will be necessary or not.

Nothing wrong with Micro$oft, If the engine falls apart, just close all windows and re-start, easy.........

I have just replaced the framed windows in my boat.

The cheapest way to replace windows is to have the plastic cut to fit the areas covered by the existing palstic and frame and screw this to the cabin side. Then if you wish you can grind off the glazing flange from the back of the old frame and screw this over the top of the plastic so they still look like they are framed windows.

My windows are laminated glass. The cabin sides are curved and the windows are flat when supplied but accept sufficient curve when fitting. But don't bend the frames into shape by progressively screwing in the fixings as this damages the anodizing and encourages corrosion.

Have PMed you with further details of my replacements.
