Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum but not to boating. I had my boat (Seamaster 27) craned into my fathers front garden last week so that I can re-fit her. Emma (my wife) wouldnt let me put her in our yard. She's in need of a complete refit, the boat not my wife! Everything from the engine to new bulkheads, not to mention the wiring, head, shower ........ etc. Sometime in the past, whoever owned her decided to replace the bulkheads with chipboard, you can imagine what I found when I started stripping her out. What started out as a fairly simple job has now turned into a major project. While everything is stripped out we decided on a change of layout. We plan on moving the head and shower to give more headroom when using the shower, any one got any ideas as to the 'perfect' layout, what would be your favored layout? Any ideas / suggestions would be most welcome, by the way, we live in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, so if anyone fancies lending a hand..........i'll supply the beer.
I look forward to chatting with you all
regards Andy

Thanks Talon, £10 notes are in short supply at the moment. I've got 3 kids who tend to thinks money grows on trees. ;) We plan on takeing our time doing the work, I want to make sure to do a proper job, unlike the PO who fitted the chipboard! I'm also looking for someone to make me a new canopy the old one is pretty much rotten thru, any recomendations for a 'cheap but good' supplier.....

Guideaqua of Lowestoft are by far the best canopy and upholstery makers in the area that I have used and also one of the cheaper companies.

You could also visit the Lowestoft Boat Show 8th & 9th May.

Hi, Good luck with your project. I think that the current arrangement is very good - you owning the boat and not me.

Seriously, we wd need acces to more pix to give more help. But my pref is that loos should be plain white of course with plenty of mirrors, seating should be squarish and open to the galley nearby. Exising production boats have good ideas, but everything is a compromise cos of limited space. I wd try and make the boat be plain, lifted with just one or two wizzy features - praps a granite or Corian/avonite worksurface frexample and Alcantara seating. Any patterned material may be risky on a small interior - you are very up close and it will have the effect of "busying" the interior too much. We humans are super-sensitive to the detail of such materials, and instantly decide on the quality based on such factors. in a small boat, like a smal room, the colours are determined buy who walks into the room - so if two people with bluye t-shirts are in a small boat - it's a blue boat, and they shouldn't need to fight the colour of the decoration.

Hi Andy,
Welcome to the Forum. I am sure you will enjoy the craic and there are many peeps about here who can give good advice.

Coincidentally my boat was surveyed today (at Brundall) and I was discussing build quality of boats with the Surveyor. He mentioned that many Seamasters had chipboard in bulkheads and partitions so it may be original instead of someone replacing it.

Good luck with the project - I live in the area so may eventually see you on the Broads!

Have you considered making a hood yourself?

I managed to recreate all my flybridge cushions and covers for the flybridge console myself and believe me, if I can do it, anyone can.

I note from your pictures you have an existing hood?

You could remove this, cover the cockpit with a tarpaulin, and then if you unpicked the old hood, you could use it as a pattern for a new one.

Materials can be bought from lots of places but on the web:-

www.pointnorth.co.uk

I would guesstimate approx £100-£150 for Materials.

I bought an electric Sewing Machine off Ebay for £35 and I can sew up to 7 thicknesses of Hood Material.

Shame you are not a bit nearer!

Mike

Re: hurrah

Welcome Andy, must say how brave you are or are you just the same as me .............MAD its a bottomless bucket mate this lark.

Am trying to work out putting a shower in my boat but canmnot get a small enough tray.

Am thinking of using a small rule pump in a tank that the waste goes directly in and doing a tiled floor that is sloped and removable so that the water goes down the waste into tank and hey presto pump pumps it out I hope

Good luck with your project

Laterssssssssss

Re: hurrah

Mad as a March Hare and then some!

When I get round to putting the shower back in, I intend to build a shower tray out of marine ply and then give it a good coat of epoxy. I'll be putting an in line pump in thwe drain line to enable the wase to be drawn out. Well, thats the plan anyhow /forums/images/icons/wink.gif
