Have a look at the Gori 3 blade prop - not much chance of catching a rope on it when folded unlike the auto prop in the feathered position. (I believe Gori are also cheaper prop for prop)

Thanks.I am not sure 100%, but I have checked motor and sail drive and everything looks OK.Vibrations are between 1200 and 2000 rpm. On 2000 everything work perfect.

I think that you'll find that Autoprop and Gori make similar claims for thier products. I have fitted an autoprop this season and can substantite their claims for improved performance under sail. Under motor we find that we need a few more revs than before but the prop is a bit smaller than the previous three bladed fixed and we use about the same amount of fuel. Certainly get more controlled performance in reverse. Couldn't fault Brunton's pre or post sales service.

Not sure whether autoprop or gori any less susceptable to rope snagging we have a cutter on ours anyway.

Seems so as the Gori 3 blade has a nice feature of "overdrive". This happens when you put it in astern (blades fold other way for going backwards) then slip her quickly through neutral and into ahead. This stops the blades folding and you have a higher pitch giving "more for less". To revert to "normal" mode just slip into neutral and the blades will fold into closed position. Nice little trick. I could not understand how it worked until I saw one on a rotating display so could "play with it"

Have a look <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.gori-propeller.dk/> here </A>

I changed to the Volvo 3 bladed prop. Excellent improved performance vs my ali 2 bladed prop and it was a lot cheaper than the Gori or Autoprop. The only down side has been the rate the anodes are disappearing at. I have kept the anode on the saildrive but the 3 small anodes that come with the prop were replaced mid season (new at the start of the season) and they need replacing again.
Besides the anode issue I have been very pleased.

Regards.

Peter.

I have a two blade Autoprop. Looking back, It did seem to give more power than the old fixed two blade. What I do like is the improved capability to manoeuvre in a marina and the fact that I can stop on a sixpence. I never established whether the boat sails faster now. It is a lot quieter though.

I had the same problem when I bought my boat. It was a problem that Volvo knew about and they replaced the prop with one presumably made of a different alloy. It's solved the anode problem but I've lost about 0.5 knots of boat speed. Saildrive is an S120.
