Here we go again ??

1987 Sunseeker XPS 34 with KAD44 EDC and DP-E outdrives.…150 hours

Shes suffered from lack of use more than anything else and some dodgy “mechanic” getting involve.

Rented a workshop this time and engines being removed next week for a mini rebuil. I’m done jamming myself in to cramped spots.

Found some lovely workmanship whilst taking outdrives off.….all coz someone is too tight to buy the right tool

started disconnecting engines for lift out and found some lovely wiring

4 batteries with 5 isolators and massive batt cable runs with poor starting. Going gut the lot and install 2 of these bad boys right by the batteries and make 2 banks of 2

Albright HD Battery Isolator Switch

then…..activate the solenoids with these…..A2B374A5-AD91-427C-A885-41A163AC4C92.jpeg

Might make the nav lights flash and a “beep beep” sound??

I do like these classic sun seekers and despite the entertaining digs you get from a certain group in north wales (that I have to say are highly entertaining ?) you do a cracking job with your boats. Looking forward to lots of pictures !

Job list:
Engines: New turbos, elbows, injectors out and off, valve clearances, strip all sea water cooling systems, new sump as previous “mechanic” said it was corroded so sandblasted it and wrapped it in fibreglassed it! WTF. Normal servicing and general mint up.

Rewire engine bay, clean and paint, batt charger, VSR….whatever else I find.

Tarting…..going for shades of grey again but only painting existing decal patterns as it’s just classic. Leccy bog, bit of wrap, upgrade nav kit but keeping dials, upholster, grey teak etc…. My normal formula!

Here’s one for the forum though…..I want change the sump drain bolt to a banjo and hose for easy oil changes via suction pump etc…. Any tips?

Materials? Armoured hose? Spec? Access is super tight to sumps once back in so will have to “valve” the loose end of the hose

nice, you mean you're going to keep it for the summer as well, or flog it in May?
V.
Who knows!. I can afford to fuel this one so that’s making it lean towards keep and use a little bit. It’s also on the west side of IOM so might do a few trips to Northern Ireland. She’ll do 50 knots too so that should be fun

Currently has suspension helm seats but they are a bit naff

Did have a look at these those as a replacement….

That is one heck of a boat a real classic. The amount of work you take on scares me mind you having a proper inside space to do it in must make a huge difference

Oh for God sake. Whats with you taking good quality classic boats and then bodging them to make a rude buck? How about a bit less bodging and a bit more using in the hopes you do a propper job this time? And why that boat of all boats? Of that age genre you're more of a Tony Danza kind of fella rather than Don Johnson. Should have got yourself a nice Fairline.
