Being a raggy, I'm straying into unknown terratory here on Mobo forum. Hope I get out alive.

I thought I'd take the risk anyway and post this.

Spotted this at www.gafirs.org.uk.

The chances are, that if coastie calls out a lifeboat in & around the solent it'll be one of the independants - little known fact. These guys are totally independant and have to raise all of their own funds.

Their new boat arrived last week & now needs fitting out. This is work they'll do themselves in their spare time - they're all volunteers and no-one get paid.

Please take a look a tthe website & if you feel the need to donate then follow the links.

Yep, there's a couple of independents near us on the west coast, one at Kilkee and one in Limerick. Both totally independent of the RNLI and each one voluntarily funded but still an integral part of the Rescue Services.

They're to be applauded.
