Just a quick update, some of you will remember my earlier posts, I recently bought a sealine 285 with twin Volvo 130 diesels, it was performing like a dog but as we knowed over 12K off the price we felt it was worth the risk. After lots of very useful advice from you lot we adjusted the smoke limiters and did all sorts of other tinkering wich got us onto the plain YEAH!! Being scottish I still was not happy though cos when I filled her up with water, diesel and stuck the tender on the back it realy struggled to get on and stay on the plain. After a call to Sealine (very helpful they were to) I found that a new set of props were in order as the previouse keeper had fitted one size up. Again thanks to this site I got a bargain in the form of 2 brand new (as good as) sets of A6 duo props.

The short version being that I now have a boat that happily gets onto the plain (and stays there) with full tanks etc, and uses far less fuel than it did before. Not that this will save me money as you can be damn sure I will be out in it a lot more now so Solent based users beware!

So thanks for all the help and for keeping me amused on bad days at work when all I want to be doing is messing about on the water!

The rain in Spain may fall mainly on the plain but your Sealine goes on the PLANE
Congrats. Seems like you may have a bargain

ah we have a poet in our midst! I hope all keeps going to plan but now I have said it is all going well something is bound to go wrong, seems to be the law with boats!

My boat increased in speed when i fitted the GPS chart plotter, on the old (paddle wheel) SeaTalk log she was flat out at 19 Knots, Fitted the new GPS and the SOG reads 26 knots. Money well spent i think, well done those boys at Simrad.
