We are looking to purchase a new boat and the Sealine SC42/450 ticks all the boxes for us in terms of size, layout and accommodation. However, most reviews are a bit dated now and I’m keen to see how they are coping with a bit of maturity😂. We have a few things we would like to discuss with current owners and experts if possible.

1. Are there any really bad or awkward points about this boat? They may not put us off but will help us know what to expect.

2. I am aware of the maintenance needs of the Volvo outdrives but are there any specific issues with them on the SC42/450 which must be close to being as big and heavy a boat as you can put these on?

3. We are not looking for sparkling performance but a bit of comfortable cruising about 20kts. Can it meet that?

4. How does it perform in general and on a heavy sea?

Any thoughts would be really appreciated.

One of our club members has one of these, mainly kept and enjoyed on the Thames.
Really noticeable feature is the size of that monster swim platform, suspect more aimed at the "Med and Sunshine" than trying to squeeze into some crowded Thames mooring and waiting for the rain to stop ?
Have a SC35 on the moorings along with several of the earlier generation of Sealines :)

Thanks for that. They are a bit wide for a lot of marinas but we have lots of space up here - just not much sun! I wonder if the member with the SC42 could be persuaded to get in touch. I'm just looking for guidance on the big issues.
