New boat interiors...

I thought one was a pilot berth and the other a cabin with the door open?

Might be wrong of course

Might be right. On a 47 footer, I can't think many people these days would choose a pilot berth over either a proper third cabin or a separate shower. But, I guess they don't need "many people" to sell the numbers they are likely to build.

I mourn the loss of a proper nav station.

Even if you have a chartplotter on the binnacle, I think you still need somewhere to spread a chart out, make up the log, etc, etc.

Every skipper needs a desk!

I'm with the other fans of gloomy older boats that have shelves for erasers. Years ago I worked for a mate fitting expensive kitchens. These newer yacht offerings have almost exactly the same interior feel to me. Great photography though, but not my thing interior-wise.

At the risk of being rude is it me or is the website a bit clunky? I only say this as a bit of constructive criticism, but on my Mac's 'safari' browser, the website could have been a lot easier to navigate. There's mention of a Bay Cruiser above, but after a few mins of looking for it I gave up. Ditto for some of the other boats discussed on this thread. Am I missing something?

Edit, I've just been back and tried again, where is a list of boats to peruse? I'm struggling here.

Well thats very strange. I used the link on Snooks first post but I didn't get a list of boats as I scrolled down. I got a description of the numerous services Snooks offers but no list of boats. I've gone back just now and clicked on it again and it works fine - boat list present.

Website not "clunky" at all now, my apologies.

The Baycruisers were interesting.
I thought the 23 very very plain down below and only really suitable for weekending.
The 26 had much more thought given to the layout inside.

Both insanely expensive I think.

And to pickup one of my fixations about all boats really:-
It's amazing on 100k plus boats how meanly thin the upholstery is...........

The BayCruiser is tested in the November 16 issue of Yachting Monthly, coming out soon...

Why do all the manufacturers seem to be competing to create interiors that look like a kid's creation in minecraft, with all these brutalist unhomely 90 degree angles everywhere, like 1960s concrete park benches?

Quite separately, that's an awesome photographic capability, Snooks! I hope it's commercially successful for you.

Not all - see the Bavaria above!

However, much of boat interior design reflects household interior design trends. You need to remember that many new boats are not sold for use in demanding conditions, but as floating holiday homes that are capable of sailing from one harbour to another in good conditions. Therefore owners (and their wives) choose interiors that reflect their lifestyles - and that is what builders offer.
