I was sitting on the beach under a cocunut tree looking at the Caribbean sea yesterday with a cocktail, when a coconut suddenly fell off and just missed me. Have you had any narrow escapes /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif At least the PDA works here /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Never mind H1, people have survived after being marooned before/forums/images/icons/smile.gif. Look at Robinson Crusoe he survived and eventually found solace with Man Friday/forums/images/icons/smile.gif as well as making a pile of dosh after being rescued/forums/images/icons/smile.gif. I wonder which Prince Charming will ride to your rescue/forums/images/icons/smile.gif

None could be narrower than what's just actually happened to my work mates next door neighbour.

Him and his wife set off about three weeks ago to go for a holiday of a lifetime, 2 weeks onshore carribean, then 2 weeks on a 50ft charter.

They were waiting in Heathrow for a delayed flight, and one hour after the scheduled departure time he went to the terminal toilet feeling unwell, and suffered a massive heart attack. Of course if the plane had been on time, he would not have survived, because it was very touch and go as it was.

He was rushed to hospital, but things weren't good and he remained unconcious on a life support machine.

After a couple of days, the doctors told his wife there was no hope and recommended the machine was switched off. She reluctantly agreed, but requested they wait until his close family could visit from Doncaster before they pulled the plug.

In the event, the family were severly delayed on the M1 due to a blockage, and 4 hours after the family would have arrived he regained conciousness, and is now back at home convalecsing!

Guess his time was not up yet!

Oi! Did you get the bloody pics or not? SWMBO keeps asking what I've been doing the last couple of days, and I keep telling her, 'trying to send these pictures to BarryH. It's his fault, honest. 'E keeps insisting......./forums/images/icons/cool.gif

Got me Thinking !

Do you think Robinson Crusoe had a PDA and that's why he was marooned for so long? [loads of smiley things]

How long do the batteries last in those things. Are they worth it.

Re: Got me Thinking !

Dunno, but in Robinson Crusoe's case it didn't really matter did it. Cos once he had told peeps where he was they just stayed clear.

Serious answer is about 3-5 days of regular use ... but most people charge / synchronise daily or every other day.

Until someone else advises that if you get a super duper bleeding expensive XR 409 MC Mk. 9 with longlife option at an incremental cost of £1,287 then it will last that really important 24 hrs longer.

Have they fitted shore power to 'palm' trees yet?

Re: Got me Thinking !

So in short NO, they're just another yuppy toy to entice underworked overpaid people to spend money.

Dunno if they've put shore power in coconut trees yet. But I remember making a battery out of a spud when I was a kid, or was it a lemon.......can't remember

You obviously failed to carry out an adequate risk assessment, and seem to be very poorly equipped for such a dangerous activity
I suggest you re- evaluate your safety gear.

Start with a crash helment and perhaps some shoulder protectors and build from there.. Its important to address the issue of sand incursion into various important crevaces.

Well a film comes to mind, I think it is "Pussy Galore" /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif I will use my covert super dooper telephoto digital camera to get some shots for you /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Problem is they all seem to be Rich Bitches and I may be out of their league, Happy junior is trying it on with a junior rich bitch her dad keeps his beedy eye on the two of them. I must say some of the 18yr olds look like 25 and some of the 40 yr olds look like 21, I am just confused!!! But what the hell after a dozen or so cocktails I guess they all taste, sorry, look the same.

P.S. what is the weather like at home /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Re: Got me Thinking !

The glare from the sun reflecting off the aqua marine sea is a bugger when trying to use it in the jacuzzi overlooking the sea. PLUS there a no cocktail drink holders in here so nowhere safe to leave the cocktail whilst PDA ing. Waitress will only hold it for so long /forums/images/icons/wink.gif I think I will stick to palm tree's don't trust the cocunut ones any more /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif
