Hi all,

any thoughts on Nanni 200hp good or bad.

I've only ever had Volvo.

Same boat one with nanni the other with VP.
Spare parts easy to obtain?
are they more agriculture like?

I had the 85hp Nanni and it was fine (a little noisy) but a good solid lump never gave me any issues and always started fine. Spares and servicing was straightforward too - or was on this one. I think they use various known diesel blocks to marinise - Kubota, Merc and Toyota. Think the 200 is a Toyota - but check this.

I have the 175 which is the same block.
The 155 is too.

I had the only lemon in 155 that I have ever heard of and I have sold several hundred Nanni engines over the years.

Good, simple, mechanical lump.
Look after it and it should look after you.

Spares are easily available through Nanni or look carefully and you should be able to get some from Toyota for 1/3 the price.

What boat?

Id search a post on here about a rogue nanni which ended up a real can of worms, new head, pistns and all sorts, for the owner to end up with a useless boat and no help from the builder or engine supplier at all.

I've aquired two 175'ers.

Base engine is Toyota 1KZ, known from a wide range of cars. Pre-marinised by Toyota it's called M1KZ and depending on turbo/intercooler/EFI it has additional letters.

Nanni does a good job finishing these engines. Parts like raw water pump impeller and filters are easily available (pump is standard Johnson) and all other stuff like raw water filters etc. are from Vetus. Among other details it's fitted with a tube to allow oil to be sucked from above the engine and the filter is placed upwards. This could lead to spillage when the filter is removed but Toyota gave that a little thought an fitted an arrangement so that you can catch this in a container just below the filter bracket.

Less expensive parts than Volvo, in general.

Diesels do make noise, but these are no worse than others - more important is the noise insulation in the boat.

Many Nannis' are connected to ZF Hurth gears. Easy and fairly cheap to service.

If you like to know more the manual etc. is easily found for download.
