Najad Yachts - is nothing sacred?

Glad to see them back. Although something (double aft cabin? minature chart table? windows in hull? sail drive? spade rudder? modern anchor?) seems to have riled the OP.

Love it... for the OP, woulld you rather have an MGB with all its foibles or a nice Porsche Boxster???

It is progress... :-)

There was more than a small element of irony in the title, thus the

I noticed in another thread that some here think the likes of HR and other Swedish brands are still producing more 'classic' designs rather than boats like this.

As touched on in another thread, is there a market willing to pay four times more for a boat that looks like something four times cheaper? GT yachts tried it so did Island Packet. Halberg Rassy had a go as well, now Amel and Najad.
Can't see it myself.

Not sure about four times, but two times - certainly. There are enough discerning shoppers around for most products who can look past the external glitz to see the fundamental qualities. Quality construction should have a lasting value.

The British Army were very good at buying batches of them and selling them on a few years later. Not sure they do that any more.

Unless they've completely changed their ethos or lost their skills base or both I doubt they'd look like something four times cheaper. On every Najad I've been on it has been obvious why they are so expensive.

How much does something like the 395 go for?

Andy

£345k incl. vat but w/o extras - and that is before you have decided which layout you fancy :-)

The new Rassy 44 comes out at £650k by the time you have the usual extras and despite only being launched in the spring there have been 5 UK orders, including 2 already delivered and residing in Lymington......so I guess people are willing to pay the premium for what essentially looks the same as a £200k Beneteau
