Here on Canal du Midi they have been cutting the grass on the banks and it falls in the water. Important to check water intakes every day. Got some heavy weed round prop yesterday but one advantages of the stern drives it you can tilt them up and get at them with knife on a stick. It’s a pity about the shag-pile sitting under the surface…
Our canal has had a low bridge restriction while it was getting painted so there has been no traffic and the weed has taken over, water lilies are almost choking the canal now.
It was a big problem with our last boat, forward 100m back 50m to get the weed off the saildrive, this boat it is not so bad but you do feel it, the lack of traffic has allowed the weed to really grow. Here on Canal du Midi they have been cutting the grass on the banks and it falls in the water. You plug the mains electrics in whilst at anchor. Do they have floating electrical 'points' in the bay or is it a long extension lead.
