My first boat - buying tomorrow fingers crossed (advice pls)

I used these guys RYA Powerboat Level 1 & 2 Course in Port Solent, Portsmouth, Hampshire, UK

Cliff is a great bloke and I thoroughly enjoyed the 2 days. However, I booked it on my own boat as I didn't think a rib with O/B would translate well, handling wise, to mine and I value one on one time. It's slightly more expensive but my wife came along too and was a much more focused day on us. Worth bearing in mind.

Thats a great idea... but need to get a service booked in first then before using my boat. what price range is reasonable for a one to one?

edit: Just seen the link you sent... its £400 for using their boat.. thats pretty good... and own boat tuition = £200.00 per day for one client + £25.00 per day for each extra client + course material

Thanks and great info share (y)

For £15k I can only get these 5 cars below... are they too old 2004 to 2006? .. and only one is at a showroom and all else are private which I was trying to avoid.

ps: Im surprised at the first one only 54k miles?
Those are all the smaller Colorado version of the Land Cruiser, 8 seats though :)

These are the Amazon:

Thanks.. none of these came up a I had "less than 100k" mileage filtered. First one you have is 95k so may be a new addition today. Is 1998/2000 cars a bit too old? For example can get an Audi Q7 or Land rover 4 same price but around 2009 to 2011

These aren't the Landcruisers that are being referred to in this thread. Those are a bit of a con in so far as they are called the Prado in pretty much the rest of the world. Sadly Toyota stopped bringing the proper Amazon to the UK in around 2016, what they then did was name the Prado 'Landcruiser' and increase the price to try and make up for the hole that the proper Landcruiser left behind.

I'm sure they are decent enough cars, but they're not in the same league. I have a Hilux and the wife a 100 series Landcruiser, (we had an 80 series before) and the Landcruiser is a beast. The engine, chassis everything is just so robust and built to last. The reason we've never changed it is that we hold out hope that one day Toyota GB might actually bring it back in one day!!

The Isuzu Trooper is quite a capable machine also but no idea what parts and dealer support is like now. Left field choice, and smaller than the heavy 4x4's would be the Subaru Tribeca (available as 5 (SE5) and 7 seater (SE7)) AWD with it's 3.0L flat six petrol engine.

Is the Discovery 2 built better than the Discovery 4?

They are generations apart. The Discovery 2 is old tech with very few sensors and all that modern nonsense that shuts things down and puts you into limp mode. Typical second hand cost £ 3000 - £5000. The Disco 4 is a very modern machine with plenty to go wrong and drive you bonkers but a lovely car to use and drive. Typical cost second hand £20,000.

I just went to see this car. 2007 Jeep Commander V8 HEMI LIMITED 5-Door £12,995 ...

Any good? Wife thinks it's ok... better than a 2013/16 mitsibushi Outlander or the audi q7 2019/2011 which WERE my final 2 ... might buy it this evening.

My only experience of Jeep is turn of the century cherokees, which had terrible build quality, terrible reliability, terrible handling and terrible interiors. I imagine things have moved on a bit since then, but I would have thought the q7 (or a toareg, same thing) was a more quality option, and a lot easier to move on when the time comes.
