Robbie Williams - Beyond The Sea

.......but she might think you're prepared to give up the boat..... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

No need to worry about that.... I'm the SWMBO, and we both sailed before we met. That said I think Patrick will be more sad than I when we eventually swap the old girl for a newer model.

Sailing- Christopher Cross. A fine tune ! Lyrics as follows:

It's not far down to paradise
At least it's not for me
And if the wind is right you can sail away
And find tranquility
The canvas can do miracles
Just you wait and see
Believe me

It's not far to never never land
No reason to pretend
And if the wind is right you can find the joy
Of innocence again
The canvas can do miracles
Just you wait and see
Believe me

Sailing
Takes me away
To where I've always heard it could be
Just a dream and the wind to carry me
And soon I will be free

Fantasy
It gets the best of me
When I'm sailing
All caught up in the reverie
Every word is a symphony
Won't you believe me

It's not far back to sanity
At least it's not for me
And when the wind is right you can sail away
And find serenity
The canvas can do miracles
Just you wait and see
Believe me

While there are many fine suggestions, plenty will have your guests looking wistfully at each other and at their watches. What you need is party music. The best and most apt track would have to be the 'Irish Rover' by The Pogues.

If you search carefully you may even get a copy with the often replaced sixth verse:

For a sailor it's always a bother in life
It's so lonesome by night and by day
'Til he launch for the shore and this charming young whore
Who will melt all his troubles away
All the noise and the rout
Swollen poitín and stout
For him soon the torment's over
Of the love of a maid he's never afraid
And old sot from the Irish Rover

100% guaranteed to get their feet tapping. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

`Irish Rover` by the Pogues and Dubliners
`Yello submarine` by the Beatles
`Theme from Jaws` by John Williams as the bride walks up the aisle!

Here's a few wild cards....

Nantucket Sleighride - Mountain = not very weddingy but great salty song.

Wooden Ships - Crosby Stills & Nash = classic

Bring Me A Boat - Kate Rusby = nice and romantic

The Voyage - Christy Moore = Great version of song already mentioned.

Good luck with the nuptials!

...I should also add that Wendels suggestion for the Jaws theme as the bride comes up the aisle gets my vote for one of the most amusing posts on here in ages! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
