Mugs,Muggsie & Mugholders

Re: Mugs,Muggsie & Mugholders

Look this is an important question .. if I size 'em to the existing mugs and I can't get similar sized replacements then armaggedon is a walk in the park!! Anyway is your boat in the water at the moment?

Is there such a thing as a standard sized mug so I can size my mugholders properly?

Uhhh, forgive me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't you be looking for general-all-type-allweather kind of cup/mugholders so it shouldn't matter what kind of cups/mugs you offer the cupo/mug holders?? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Anyway, we use this:

I certainly hope not, there's a b*****y great hole where the propshaft should be. Re-fit city at present, ETA Easter.

ah well, i can comment on this cos i have new glass holders.

Mugwise, no, there no standard size . You will be ok with an 80mm dia recess to hold mugs, as this is the dia of a decent size (ie non-stingy) whisky glass.

For a multifit mug holder, cut recesses with (say) four recesses 90degreess apart for the handle from quite unfeasibly small handle to v large, but with 80 mm dia hole, whcih would accomodate and hold all mugs up to 80mm, and the smller ones would held firm by their handle in the smallest size or recess, or spin for a larger one.

Alternatively, plonk all the mugs in the sink and don't wash them up very much. This is the most popular route and hence must be v boaty.

Final option is to buy a stack of mugs and chuck them away after use, thereby dispensing with the need for washing up or storage.

as youse hae 'nicked part of ma intellectually copyrighted research intae ra subject, the rest o' it youse may as weel hae - the "Prevalence of Tea Stains in Marine Environment using different materials of construction" which concludes that china pots arra best and - glory be - ra china mugs are orra the same size at 89.567mm (gie or tak a midge's dick or so ... )

Re: Dual purpose ...

the diameter of a decent malt whisky (round) bottle is 92mm which is also the diameter of a slopey sided wine bottle (fer youse wusses wha drink the stuff) but not the same as a claret bottle which is smaller at 87mm ... so ... having a drink holder which can also hold a bottle of booze requires it to be a hole diameter of approx 95mm ... thocht ye'd like tae know, ken ...

Re: Dual purpose ...

Think we need a scatter graph relating size and nature of utensil and dispersion over the aforesaid teak table!

Re: Mugs,Muggsie & Mugholders

how come so many "amps" in the title ... ??

a pair of oars will do for that svelte, lightweight, greyhound of the sea you've got .. !!

Re: Mugs,Muggsie & Mugholders

He's bought an ElectricityLog with the ability to generate countless Amps from next to nothing!

Re: Dual purpose ...

CofG calcs reveal tipping moment different for mug than straight out of the bottle .. only posh establishments give you the choice although some boats "tip" more than ithers ....

You can slander my name all over the place but....

....lay off of my blue shade cruise.

The YM review of the R38 referred to it as an Alasation of the sea rather than a greyhound, I'll have you know.
