Moving a dingy

That's not much of a task, why not have a word with a local dinghy club- any member with a standard road trailer could do job with a minimum of fuss and expense. You might find the club itself has access to a trailer

Or the back of a pick-up or a flat bed trailer. A luton van with a roller door (open) would do it as well.
I sold my Heron (11ft) to a guy in East Grinstead who hired a van to carry the dinghy and trailer.

At the risk of a little damage to your car. How about lots of padding on the roof and several stout lads to lift it up and lay it upside down on the padding. You will need to tie it on securely.

ie a rope from the front of the car underneath to the front of the dinghy. (or better to the part of the dinghy at the back of the car) likewise a rope from the frontmost part of the dinghy to the back of the car to hold it in sudden braking. then from each side of the dinghy to the opposite side of the car perhaps through open windows. Remember to tie it like springer mooring ropes. Then finally tie it down to the roof with rope across the top. Lash the mast on next to the dinghy.
I have carried 27ft mast on car roof with just padding. A bit embarassing on the road but no prob really. just a suggestion, don't blame me for any unfortunate outcome. olewill

Hear hear the weight of a gp14 is far too much to roof "ok with a mirror", so do as previously sugested and try and borrow a road trailer from a local sailing club.
as a member of my local sailing club i would say a 100% certanty but then wigan sc prides itself on being the freindly club. i cannot speak of course for your local sc.
good luck and enjoy your gp. unfortunatly injury has curtailed my dinghy sailing days but prior to that i owned and sailed a gp, great dinghy and lives up to its name well (general purpous)
