yep agreed, but somebody with a steadier hand and 2 sets of scaffolding to do the top one!

wow thats a hard thing to do right!

I plan on doing a simpler 90s style like the 336 mk2

Work carries on with the twin's.

Arrow has been surveyed once more and came out with a clean bill of health minus a few minor snags. Nothing major only replacing bolts on the rudder for A4 grade and a hose to be replaced.

Managed to get her tidied up inside and looking less like a project and more like a useable boat. We replaced the ruined faux wooden laminate flooring that was fitted in the aft cabin and under the chart table with some new grey stuff to smarten it up. Carpet is always nicer but its a bugger when it gets wet and smelly.

With the standing rigging now completed I fitted the new hawk VHF aerial and also a new Nasa supernova masthead light. Also much easier to clean the mast and spreaders before fitting.

Fitted the mast yesterday, the guys at Fairlie Quay were amazingly patient with me and super helpful. Can't thank them enough

A nice sidenote, I was contacted by a gentleman who has another of the sunsail boats and we had a very interesting chat about his boat. It did the 5 years in the med like our twins and then it went into private hand's. I would love to know of any of the whereabouts of the charter 28's and any other info if possible

Aztec is coming along nicely also. Not much to see inside the tent but we are getting ready for the final 3 coats of perfection pro. Having spent the last 4 days sanding and applying primer ( 4 coats this time ) I will be ecstatic when they are both outside the shed and looking like shiny new boats

I think if there is any doubt as to whether Perfection pro is magic or not just look at this photo. Tom literally rolling on glass

1 week of curing and she will be outside and reunited with Arrow!

Arrow has her rig on and is looking very smart. I've a few fiddly jobs left to do and I think Ill treat her to some new halyards

Weather and my actual job has been hampering progress but we have Aztec looking like new!

Took me a few weeks to get some nice pictures. Also had time to do some 3D printing for the inside.

Smartens up the chart table area along with a new VHF.

We had a week on the Cally Canal on one of those about twenty years ago. I cant remember which one but my son is fairly sure it was on Aztec. Certainly looking good now (y)

Final touches. Mast is up and stripes are on. Thank you everybody for your encouragement over the last year! Its been a real graft to put these terrible twins back to new shiny boats but it's been totally worth it

Where you have the type of rope cleat shown in post 1 it is likely that even after reparing the damaged gelcoat it will get damaged again. The solution is to cut and bend a small piece of thin stainless steel to fit under it with the edge bent downwards round the coachroof edge to protect it.

yes that's a good idea Norman, I also considered 3d printing a sacrificial piece for that location as it will be a contact point for sure!

Despite having a 35' boat now I still absolutely adore Aztec. Will be a shame to see her go as she really is a fantastic little boat that can do anything! Cruising along at 5 knots last weekend under engine and motor sailing at 6 knots with the headsail up. Was cold but the boat really is a dream to sail and handle.

Get rid of the big yin and the Class 8 party awaits + racing against nice people, well most of them, anyway.
