Some notes that may help those who defy our great Saviour Matt and travel. Just from my experience having gone through this a few times. BA has a really good website on British airways.com that gives tons of information on testing - pre testing, testing to come back and tests when you get back. It shows lots of suppliers and you will get a BA discount at each one. If you need only a rapid flow test to leave the UK ie going to Italy for example I recommend you book Collinsons at Heathrow T5 for one hour before you need to check in. Very smooth and result in 15 mins with a certificate. For the test to return you can take this test with you. We used Medicspot and you can also book your 2 and 8 day test upon return with them. The test to return avoids dealing with foreign testers etc and is easy to use, swift and effective. You can do it on your boat and get the certificate you need in two hours. All you need is a phone that takes a picture. Then you have to decide re Day 5 test to release. My strong recommendation here is that you pay more and go in person. This gets you a result in a few hours, then you are out. I did use the post once and because the Royal Mail Priority box is so unreliable I ended up getting my release result on Day 10, ergo a waste of money. The other thing to note is that you do NOT have to specify if you are having the 5 day release before you come back. Get back and if you feel like doing it book somewhere that is approved and just go and do another Locator form. Hope this helps everyone.

Very useful, thanks.
If you use Medicspot, you can enter code BA for a 15% discount.

I just received this from my marina, showing the anchoring limits if 24m or over in our neck of the woods. Certainly puts me off buying a larger boat (even if my wallet was willing, which it's not)!

@^^^ Yes it destroys the intimacy of messing about as a family or otherwise near the shore , snorkelling , going ashore , dog comfort breaks, water toys etc and general people ( other boats ) watching . As well as shelter .
There were not that many over 24 M loa , anyhow use that stretch .
The 24 M + tend to spew out of the bay of Cannes , and Antibes area .Those places and boats will be badly effected .Particularly between the Lerins and up close sheltering around the cap d Antibes .
Over here in Italy there is no such nonsense not withstanding the usual beach buoyed off areas which are orange here ( Fr yellow ) But then the boat density is literally a tiny fraction in Liguaria compared to the CdA .

The shelter bits quite important because it can be windy and unbearably hot in the marinas and you just ( despite the waves ;) ) just wanna get out .What ever the wind direction or wave height getting there we have always managed to tuck up tight and anchor somewhere flat calm to mess about .
Cant see how this is possible anchoring that far out , they will be bobbing about and it will be uncomfortable and arguably unsafe at the stern trying to get in / out of the sea .Running a geny wirh stabs does not stop longitudinal pitching in the waves , bow headed up .Roll sure but not pitching @ anchor .

Its the first full sort of season interesting to see how it pans out ? Plenty of other drivers at the mo.

I know that there are fewer large boats here, but there were always 24m + by Dramont and in Agay throughout the summer. Interesting to see this year (fingers crossed!)

Probably only applies to Bouba but French folk on our Empuriabrava Facebook site are saying that Covid test refunds are being refused. I paste:

“Following my refund request for a pcr test done in Empuria in February
This is the email sent to me by CPAM
Apparently an invoice paid isn't enough, we also have to send them our bank snippets”

If it’s useful I can probably attach the email by CPAM ( in French)

I didn’t know, but so far we haven’t needed a test. Hopefully, by the time we do feel like traveling this pandemic will be a distant memory.
Just out of interest, today we received our new post Brexit Carte de Séjour
