masthead unit repairs

I bought a boat with a splendid display of VDO analogue wind intstruments. It also has a VDO mastead unit without the rotating anemometer cups. I knew they didn't work when I bought it, but it was implied that they could be fixed.

Does anybody know a firm that repairs such things?

I have been in touch with VDO for a replacement, but the stuff is old (1983) and they no longer have any spares.

I realise I may have to replace the whole kit, but I rather like the look of the instruments.

Thanks

Must have been one of my old boats

I get scared stiff going aloft. If any thing goes wrong I sell the boat!

i took up sailing to avoid vertigo inducing pursuits so shinning up 65ft of slippy aluminium tube makes my finger ends tingle.

(Sorry for the flippant reply!)

you need to get your wife suitably trained. hoist your credit card up the mast on a halyard - that usually works!

Re: masthead unit repairs - replies so ffar

Everybody seems to have misunderstood.
The masthead unit is here on my desk at home.
It seems I cannot replace it with a new one and so far all attempts to find a used one have failed. Therefore I simply want to find out if it can be fixed - whether there are firms that do this?

If another masthead unit could be made to work with my instruments, maybe with a bit of recalibration, that would be fine too.

Try Greenham Regis at Lymington, Soton or Chichester.
