My windlass packed up

Marine superstore had one at a very good price.

It was Sunday and I wanted it that day. Only in stock in their warehouse sadly.

“Don’t worry give us an hour and we’ll go and get it”. Amazing service I thought.

GRP work was needed to make the deck hole smaller and that was completed yesterday.

The new windlass wouldn’t wind in the chain. It seems I’d bought the wrong one as I’d mixed up ISO and DIN 10mm chains.

I rang marine superstore and they promised to ring back.

They rang with a solution.

“We’ve found the right drum at the suppliers. We’ll go and get it and it will be back here later today. We’ll charge cost price” (about £50)

My boat is now working again and a planned trip is saved. If I’d ordered on line there is no way it would be. It’s why I always prefer to buy from local chandlers.

But this service from marine superstore went above and beyond any reasonable expectation and needs calling out.

No connection.

They are good. The warehouse is a 5 min drive away & you can collect from there

Driving to the boat this morning and I was listening to a radio chat programme about customer service and the fact that it is dead and customers receive very poor service in majority of cases which had been highlighted in a survey of customer experiences. This just goes to show that some companies will go above and beyond to help their customers. I have used Marine Superstore on occasions and found then really helpful. What a lovely story and experience Elessar and well done Marine Superstore.

Had good service from them too, and helpful when I ran in to a slight problem with one item, not their fault or mine but the manufacturer not getting their finger out to update their products to the latest regulations.
We got various bits of elctrowhackery and some lifejackets for the grandkids.

I had good service from them some years back, and at competitive prices, but can't now remember the details. They're still on my mental list of businesses I'd prefer to buy from.

(I think they suffered for some time from being confused with a very dodgy online-only outfit that adopted a very similar 'superstore' name and were notorious on this forum and elsewhere for appalling service and seemingly downright fraudulent trading.)

It's my go-to place for boat bits, and the Volvo Penta dealer is just below.

The nearby McDonalds do an awesome Quarter Pounder with Cheese / Orange Juice, which is a side benefit.
Mrs SC35 hasn't quite twigged the correlation between me buying boat related things and not wanting too much for dinner.
