Why is it my car
1)has a computer that tells me how many miles are left in the tank and warns me when theres 50 miles left
2) has a nice heated front windscreen
3)has wipers that self park
4)comes with a radio and CD player

and my boat which cost more than three times the price doesn't
surely these little things wouldn't cost so much more or does the panel think we don't need them?

I agree that generally boats do seem underspecc'd when compared with cars. Hoever , the trial run of cars is the same as the total production run of boats. Also, japs haven't started making boats yet.

BTW, the heated front screen is because you have a crappy Ford/Jag. I can't help you there :)

Agree with the comment re volumes but heated screens are acheivable if flat as in Caterham.

Crappy Ford or Jag, ummmm I think not, a damn good idea which other inferior manufacturers can't grasp.

Made the same complaint about Stingray(Scorpio 21), in fact the exact comment I made was "The instruments look like they're out of an old Ford Capri!".

So, am currently replacing with new Multi-Function Thingies(Navman 4200 Fish Finder Fuel Sensor, GPS, DSC VHF etc.) I will post before and after piccies if anyone is interested.

TT - In "It seemed like such a good idea at the time" mode!

Agree wholeheartedly but can we have also:

Adjustable helmseat with a proper backrest
Decent demisters (not those Halfords reject fans)
Intermittent wipers
Windscreen washers which do more than dribble onto the deck

We can only be doing one of two things, either filling our faces in one of the joints on the quay or on the beach with brat. I have quite taken to the latter as the views can be very agreeable even if I do get the occasional clip round the ear from SWMBO
