Brand new 2022, in original box and unused, £250.
Bought in March but no longer required as boat sold.
The Loos rig tension gauge provides an accurate method for measuring and replicating rig settings.
This is the largest model for use on wire diameters of 7, 8, 9 and 10mm
Used by professional riggers.
Ideal for setting up your yacht rigging (and checking mid-season) without resorting to guesswork or time-consuming, difficult techniques.
Gives an instant reading of tension and percentage of breaking force to ensure a good starting point for fine-tuning.
Current rig tensions can be recorded to quickly achieve the same consistent setup next season.
Check how much backstay tension you have on. Foil/furling forestay tensions can't be measured directly but can be calculated from backstay tension on masthead boats.
Under-tensioned rigging is the most common cause of rigging failure.
Rigging can be adjusted while the gauge is attached to give a hands-free continuous tension readout.
Tension reading takes seconds to obtain, just clip the gauge onto the wire and read the scale.
The new PT “Professional Models” provide an increasing durability, higher accuracy and convenience of use as they are designed to remain on the wire whilst it is being adjusted.
Practical Boat Owner magazine rig tension gauge tests 2016 showed good accuracy for the Loos gauge.
Manufactured from rugged anodised aluminium, suitable for marine use and corrosion resistant to give years of service.
Detailed operating instructions are included with the gauge.
Readings are based on 1×19 stainless steel wire breaking strengths and also reads kgs force.

Average price in UK is £400. Jimmy Green £407, Force4 £400, Proboat £451, Allspars £496
Used ones of this model can sell around £200 but is spring force and calibration still accurate?
Free delivery within the UK.
