Excellent, thanks. Marina or not, it is all semantics, a quick look at the chart will inform any yachtsman not to expect shelter from the SE. I look forward to a visit later this year.Hi all,
I appreciate all the dialogue here, thanks all for the comments and engagement with the update I gave.
We have not published this until now, however we also do have siginificant plans in the medium term to improve the facility. The start of that is creating the brand and Lochmaddy Marina is the brand we have chosen based on those plans. All I'd ask is for your continued patience whilst we get funding (it is owned by a charity) and of course planning applications take time. In terms of the name, we have to build our site to have effective search engine optimisation and that also takes time and is something we only wish to do once. A name change in the middle would not benefit anyone, not least the charity.
Anyway, I hope you like the site and more importantly the amount of information we have tried to supply as there really was not much at all - and most of it was out of date - until now. Efforts are being made to remove out of date information on other sites too to help with clarity over our offering, which is very clear from the website.
I hope to see you all at some point in Lochmaddy Marina; here's to a great 2022 season, Scott,
Is it really mean to anchor and row ashore?
Now I feel guilty for using the Balamory pontoons for the flubber! No, but you're a cad if you land on their pontoons from your dinghy without dropping a few farthings in the box.
Not unless you feel a moral obligation to eat in hotels and restaurants, rather than cooking your own food and eating at home. ?The word "marina" may have changed its meaning but I find my attitudes are also changing. I now feel a moral obligation to support the pontoon facilities that the locals have provided but not so the "real" marinas created by Holt and his ilk. Is it really mean to anchor and row ashore?
Aka the temple of pleasureCracking bar at the hotel just down from the 'boating tie-up and walk' marinaish type place.
