Never heard of it before. Only club we visit is the Clube Naval de Lisboa at Doca de Belem, reasonable restaurant but a bit pricey - http://restaurantedoclubenavaldelisboa.pt/en_GB/

Daughter working in Lisbon and I found the club on internet last night,sounds like a sailing/social club,70members of all ages and countries,sounds interesting!

my son is working in Lisbon, and for Xmas his mother and I bought him membership for a year.
He's been out twice with them, but was then was posted to Duiblin for 3 months (but back soon).

It's a nice club, they generally organise several sails a week of different kinds. They participate in regatta's during the weekends, have training sessions in the week, have after work sails to enjoy the sunset with a G&T, casual sails down the river.... Whatever type of sailing you want do you, they probably have it on offer.

I don't know what happened my post yesterday, lost in cyberspace!! I am planning a cruise to lisbon in August for a few weeks. Has anyone any info on going up the Rio Tejo. I would like to know hor far, anchorages, places to leave dinghy when ashore, places to avoid etc. Also any recommendations on where to spend a few days on the way up from the Algarve. My draft is 1.6M. Currently in Alcoutim.

Daughter 32 seems to be at a loose end when not working and as she has done some sailingitseemed a place to meet people and err go sailing........are you nice people!

Hi Paulo, Did the trip (and back) a few years ago, starting point was anchorage off the beach just to the east of Cape St Vincent. From there, up to Sines and anchored in bay, dinghies allowed in marina to go ashore. Next for us was anchorage off Cascais but friends stopped off at Sessimbra for the night. Another quiet anchorage to the east of there is Arrabida but very shallow on approach. Not been far past the bridge in Lisbon so can't help you there. May see you in Alcoutim, should be there in around 3 weeks. Graham.

Hi Graham, Thanks fort that info. The guide books don't give any info above the bridge, i want to go up as far as it is possible. Lookingg forward to seeeing you in the gluepot, though most of the liveaboards are fleeing to the coast over the next few weeks for a cool summer breeze.

A nice peaceful anchorage on the other side of the river and a bit further up from Lisbon at Seixal.
I draw 1.5m and anchored in between a trot of mooring buoys NW of Seixal at about 38 38.68N 09 06.52W

Graham, Thanks for that, looks like I can go about 10 miles above the bridge to Villa Franac de Xira. I wondor if there are pontoons there or space for anchoring.

Paulo, we've just been to Clube Naval for lunch and a guy I got chatting to says river navigable for approx 60 km as far as Valada, where there's a low bridge. Evidently some pontoons up the river and tide runs at about 2-3 kts but beware of nets in some areas. There's evidently a pilot book but no details. Graham.

One of they guys on the moored boats started shouting at me when I anchored in more or less the same spot in August last summer, so I just went a bit further up the main channel passed all the moorings and anchored just after the channel leading to the Tagus yacht center splits off. Still plenty of water, no traffic and nobody bothered me.
I saw people leaving their dinghy's at the big pontoon at Seixal, but I guess you have to pay for that. If it were me, I'd probably leave it on the beach to the east of the pontoon.
There is a beach in Seixal west of the pontoon where people swim, but it looks like the best/most popular spot is on the end of the spit on the other side of the channel (to the north east) from Seixal.
