Well, two problems solved today and both with the aid of vacuum technology.
1. Changed the oil in my two AQD32A's and used one of those vacuum tank thingies hired for the day from my friendly local chandler (Steve at Chertsey Marine-nice guy) for a very reasonable £10. Couldnt believe extracting eight litres of oil from each engine could be so clean and easy. Pity I didnt do quite as good a job of pouring the new stuff in but cest la vie...the engines could do with a good exterior clean up anyway./forums/images/icons/smile.gif
2. 'Flushed' with success I moved on to task number two...trying to extract the crud from the bottom of my 115gallon diesel tank. My P32 has been Thames based for years and, as a run down to LImehouse and St Kats at the end of the month is bound to shake things up a bit, I decided to try and remove any solid 'refuse' rust bits etc that might be lurking on the bottom ready to get all shook up and block the fuel filters.
My newly developed DTVC (diesel tank vacuum cleaner - of which more later} worked beyond my wildest dreams and I extracted over half a kilo of solid dross from the tank in about half an hour - all accomplished thru the fuel gauge sender hole and without without having to drain the tank.
Just for once my day was one of negative pressure...who said life sucks....????
