Hi all,
I have been servicing my Lewmar winches as there was a lot of play in the drums. You could lift them up and down the spindle by about 10mm which mean the jib sheets were getting caught under the winches.
Taking them apart, I noticed the white plastic insert that is designed to stop the up/down movement of the spindle when it sits inside the inner winch housing (the part that is bolted to the boat). The fact that the drum locks on the spindle with the circlip at the top of the winch drum meant the drum could move up/down, but it is actually the spindle that is moving up and down in the housing
These plastic keys need to be replaced to stop the problem. Does anyone know if these are available to buy singley?
The spares kit I have seen on line only seems to include 1 insert and at £40+ per kit it seems I may have to pay over £80 for two plastic Keys/inserts?
If that is my only option I may as well by two new winches.
