Levkas Santa Maura Bridge problem

Friends just called to warn us that the bridge is out of action. I'll try to double check elsewhere. I was told that it had failed certification a couple of days ago. It may be opened just to let a ferry through from Corfu but no other boats allowed. Road traffic not affected at present apart from lack of openings. Looks as if we'll need to go the long way around. Doesn't sound as if a quick fix is likely.

Anyone have confirmation and more information?

Just spotted confirmation on the opening times thread. Probably best to move this there and handle updates on that thread (Levkas Bridge-New Opening times).
