Re: Leopard is magnificent

jfm, I was wondering where you had got to after reading your rather interesting tale about the car incidents. (bit concerned they might have thrown the key away) Reason I mention this is that when visiting my dear old mum the other day I was relating your story to my dad and on mentioning the briefs name mother made some caustic remark. See, she was a JP in Manchester for many years and has had quite a bit of exposure to your man, is he good I asked, yes she said, but he's a cocky, arrogant so and so...... Small world. Anyway seems to bear out what you say, other thing I heard is that occasionaly his motor gets vandalized (by the boys in blue)

Re: Probly my fault.................

Dang! SorryTony, I thort I had got the hang of emailing pics by now. I sent them to boatone@boatsontheweb.com, from the same freeserve I address I used before. Unfortunately they're on my home pc, and I'm in the office now, so if they dont turn up I will have to resend them tonight. Most annoying - there were even some of Diana 2 razzing along at 20knots, taken from the jetrib tender!

Re: calling boatone.......

I also e-mailed some piccies to B1 earlier though maybe not in right format but also no word from him. Think he's falling down on the job here We go to all the trouble to take the piccies and he's let us down;-)

I dunno, just can't get the staff these days can you?

Re: calling boatone.......

Sorry boatone. I was a bit lazy and attached around 25 or 30 pics to the email. I spect it was too big, though they were "correct" size, about 30k and a few hundred pixels square. I was using a freeserve email box, which isn't really industrial strength. I will send em tonite, in 2 or 3 batches, around 8.30pm I hope. Sorry for delay folks!

Re: calling boatone.......

Falling in the water has obviously soaked my brain. Sent all the piccies full size at 190KB each so gulp, they're stuck somewhere in cyberspace. Have resized them to 30KB and sent as two separate e-mails. Only 9 piccies I'm afraid, seems I must have deleted all the interior shots.

There's nothing else for it, I'll just have to revisit for more photo's, though if jfm took 30 we might get a good show after all.

So loads of apologies to Boatone, not him falling down on the job, there's no-one else to blame it must have been the French wine that did it.

But really, sorry Tony for taking your name in vain.

I hope so.

One massive difference is with a French skipper. I suspect that they compare rather well against English types. Oh sure, English types will be good with driving the boat and cleaning and lines and navigation stuff. But not so sure if they will find you a beer, and tell you which beer is best, that you don't need a toaster unless it's for toasting brioche with foie gras, will have relations or friends who work at various restaturants, will book taxis, will run all the guarantee work, make coffee, make more coffee, not in the least complain about you driving or not driving or making a total mess of the cockpit at last night's binge and tidy it all in the morning.

By contrast, (and I have only a little experience) the brit skippers are ex-merchant navy or ex-racing so it's "naff" to iron their own stuff, or to make food or anything a bit non-macho or not actually to do with driving/sailing, get bored when the boat isn't moving from port to port, and suggest a cook, probably female, they know about cooking don't they?

How very contentious.
