It all seems to be about length, and / or beam.

This length is better than that or the wider it is the better.

Just think about it??

The longer the boat the better!

Warps too, how long is good?

the boat hook even has a length issue, do you go for the traditional wooden ones and stretch if needed or one or the telescopic ones [that sink when they come apart and you drop it over board I am on 5 so far!}

A short boat with a wide beams some say is better.

the saying are endless, so what do you think is better?

[I guess it all comes down to what you want to do with the boat/hook/warp etc. If you want to cross the Atlantic, I guess size helps. If the canals are your thing then beam is a problem.

Long warps are great, except when it comes to stowage on a small boat!

We use a tele boat hook for holding on in locks, except they are not reliable and we get through a couple a season.

I am very content with my length and beam at the moment!!

Yes

stowage is a problem

, I like the big balls

[ fender ones] for boating ,

and stowage is a problem,

not many places to store them

apart from hanging off the back transom rail.

Do your ball (fenders) hang low? Do they swing to and fro?
Can you tie 'em in a knot? Can you tie 'em in a bow?
etc

NO, Just trying to entertain in a boaty way,

Tempting but Mr Powerskipper mite object.

Well, i checked with Mrs G and she tells me that she prefers something with plenty of beam, she said it gives a better ride.

As far as the balls are concerned, i'm not keen on hanging them over the transom, i find this does lead to nasty rub marks. I have a tailor made bag to keep mine in.

I`m sorry , i think you will find that displacement will outperform , length , beam or fancy techniques in any kind of bouncy situation . ;)

Swmbo likes long ones same with fenders and wharps , she says best stowed on the Flybridge, Especially while at anchor. Occasionally she will insist on stowing away on the flybridge even in a marina but the flybridge covers are on at that stage so it can be a bit of a tight squeeze up there.

The tone of this website is definately going downhill---Thankfully. Its good to see some humour, gets a bit dull otherwise.
