when you have removed it as you must, note where the leak is, we had several stress fractures in ours and finished up having a new base welded to the tank, the fractures were caused by ill fitting in the first instance i.e. resting on formers and rough fibre glass, the engines did the rest(vibration) We laid conveyor belt material before we refitted it, fingers crossed it has done the trick.
You could try Hovercraft Consultants Ltd and get them to build you a flexible tank liner?
We use them for other stuff and they are pretty helpful. How a tank liner would work I don't know but it could worth investigating. - http://www.dureflex.co.uk
Thanks to all who have helped . Hi Barry its location is very tight behind the port engine. According to the engineer rather than engine out would be easier and cheaper to cut hole in side of hull to remove tank.
Agreed. To get any strength in the repair, they'd have to have access from the inside, so you'd still have to have the floor, engine and tank out. Flexible liner sounds intriguing.
Without knowing how it looks on a F36 i had a leaking tank on my 365, the mechanic ended up cutting it into pieces and putting in two new tanks that is docked together using a large pipe in the bottom. I think i lost about 20-30 liters total volume on that.
They put in rubber mat in the bottom to stop the tank from vibrating against various details in the bottom of the boat.
But the tank in question was underneath the forward bed in the midcabin. Not in the engineroom. I had one VP authorised dealer suggesting sawing a rather large hole in the bottom of the boat, but he didnt get to do the job ofcourse
