\'Lazy Jacks\' which type?

First, thanks for the advice on my previous post. I will make my own Lazy Jacks. However, in trying to think the project through I cannot see why blocks or even rings are used, other than the block on the mast for uphauing the Jacks, there does not seem to be any other moving part. Am I missing something?
Regards

John

G'day John,

The chances of getting every but of string just the right length first go is almost impossible. By including rings on the 'Y' joins, you can change the length of any part of the rig and also take out any stretch later on, this ensures it fits properly at all times and this will reduce the chances of foul ups.

PS, I had a look at the link above, looks a bit overdone with the bungie cord, but you can see that this was added to avoid the adjustments. Not at all sure that I would even consider this, bungie is high on my list of stuff to avoid on boats, it has caused a lot of injuries.......s n a p........OUCH I cant see. Right up there with glass, avoid it.
