The last regatta of the season, we were lying in 4th place overall, 1 point behind our rival. To finish in 3rd place we had to beat our rival by at least 1 place and finish at least 2nd to win on count back - a tall order as our highest place to date was 3rd. Pre start was good but 1 min from the start the wind dropped and backed, we were not in a good position. We recovered quite well and took off, putting distance between us and our competitors. Concentrated on sailing well upwind towards the windward mark, had a good spi hoist and settled in for the downwind leg. Everything went well, we had a good run back to the finish line and crossed the line first on the water in our group. After rating we were also first, 40 seconds ahead of 2nd and more importantly 3 places ahead of our rival. We managed to secure 3rd overall in our group.

Hope you enjoy.

Difficult to hear what the female crew was shouting out but it looked as if you were 2 mins or more late to the start but sill way better than most.

We have a crew member calling out the time, counting down to the start, but once the wind dropped and backed and we weren't going to make the start on time we then concentrated on weaving through the boats to get up to the line and away - and fortunately it worked.
