The instructions tell me not to anti-foul my keel cooler, but I get a huge amount of growth on it. What preparation should I make before launching the boat?

G'day MaggieGray and welcome to the YBW forums,

I suspect coating the cooler with antifoul will reduce its efficiency, however if I were in your position I would be anti fouling it and keeping a very close eye on the temperature to ensure all is well.

What you prime it will depend on what material it's made of. Most are copper but stainless and even galvanised pipe are used.

Can you tell us what material it is and we may be able to assist you further.

Also a good idea to fill in some information in your Bio as this will improve the quality of the answers and perhaps put you in touch with someone who has the same model and has solved the problem.

Avagoodweekend......

I have a keel cooler but it's for the fridge! Sintered bronze anti-fouled I suspect would not work very well.

We (and that includes me) always assume that our post readers read minds as well. But no matter how hard you (we) try, we can still assume too much.
