Hi All

My Kamd 300

I need some help after replacing injectors
and servicing the diesel injector pump no fuel spray at the injectors
what could be the issue

we have switched the ecu from the other engine and still the same
we have also tried the old injectors again and still no spray
while the injectors were out we also did a compression test and it is good

Looking forward to your reply

Hi,

this engine does not immediately feed diesel when you start it.

It doesn't have glow plugs, this has been replaced by a super scharger, it starts charging right from the key and after the engine has been running(start motor) for a while, the fuel line opens and the engine starts.

The rotation of the machine depends on the air temperature, the colder the longer, I estimate 5-20 seconds. The purpose of the super charger is to raise the pressure and heat the combustion chamber so that the diesel ignites when the Ecu gives the command to open the line to the injectors.

someone told me to do this but im not understanding why
Loosen sea water pump , the two screws that attach it to timing cover and try to start
: Or remove coupling between sea pump and injection pump and try to start

Hi Thank you for your post so what shall we do in your opinion

Hi,

what I meant was that I doubt you can't see the fuel spraying from the nozzles when the system is built (ecu) in such a way that after certain parameters are met the ecu gives the command to start feeding diesel to the nozzles.

I'm not 100% sure, but logically, the paramets can't be filled when the nozzles are off the cover and the pressure, heat, etc. don't rise.

There is an expert here with the name volvopaul, could someone advise his exact name and you could try sending a PM, he is a "professional"

All these descriptions relate to common rail diesels which a Kad300 is not, the compressor has no effect on starting its there to give boost at low rpms before the turbo wakes up. The reason it runs if engine temp is below 60 C is to reduce smoke when cold, it cuts out at 60C and then only works when you apply throttle. The ECU does not control injector opening, it controls the injection timing by means of an electronic governor. If there is no fuel then first establish you have fuel to the injection pump, then crack the injector lines at the injectors and crank until fuel appears, tighten and it will start a bit lumpy at first but will clear the lines of air as it runs. If there is no fuel after several attempts then the injection pump stop funtion is at fault which needs checking with a Vodia tool. These injection pumps are basically the same as an ordinary mechanical pump, its just the governor which is now controlled electronically after fuel temp, rpm, engine temp and No1 injector needle position are monitored.

If you have diesel present at at least 3 injectors, then when you tighten the nuts up it should start. Try opening all the lines at the injector and apply some throttle and crank, it should leak diesel at all the injector connections. You say you have had the pumps serviced, are you sure you have timed the pump correctly, its a critical procedure and needs a dial gauge indicator fitted in to the rear of the pump to measure plunger lift, and the engine on TDC nr1, there is a special crank locking tool for this.

Sounds like no signal from rpm sensor to throw pump into full fuel on cranking , had one last week just spitting fuel but no smoke when cranking , plug diagnostic key it to read rpm when cranking should see between 55 and 70 rpm . Could be flywheel sensor magnet bunged up with swarf from flywheel ring gear wear or even worse water in bell housing.
I had another this week where it would start if I manually primed lift pump but wouldn’t pump fuel when cranking as lift pump had failed inside .

Hi All

So finally engine started as mentioned before so rpm reaches 3850rpm boat hasn't been moved since October oil pressure is between 78psi wot and 40psi when trotal is reduced temperature 83 85c at 3200rpm no smoke from exhaust
but we do have some smoke from breather vent from crank i also realised that it smokes when coming off power not when giving power any ideas
