This reminds me of a well-deserved put-down I was once the embarrassed recipient of,

I remarked to a sharp-witted old lady at somebody or other's funeral:

"At least he died doing what he most enjoyed."​

She replied:

"Dying, d'you mean?"​

Thanks for that - I usually reckon the Beeb are careful about details like that, but obviously not in this case.
The BBC are ok, it's sadder: there has been a misunderstanding between the rescue authority and the M.Savin shore people/team, the latter probably understood they had found the body too and they announced it on social media, whereas rescuers only found an empty boat. Must be even tougher for the family.
