Motor Sailer, is the universally accepted designation for avoiding controversy in comfort,
I am happy with ‘sailing boat’ or in some contexts ‘yacht’, but never the ghastly ‘sailboat’. Although all boat used for pleasure can be called yachts, I feel a nagging disappointment when someone refers me to a supposed yacht only to find that are referring to an inverted steam iron.
If I ever am drawn to call my ‘boat’ a sailboat you have my permission to affix a sign on the heads door labelling it the ‘bathroom’.
We call it "the cludgie".You mean you don't call it " The rest room " ?
