Re: serious answer

It's too slab sided to be stealth (too easy to pick up on radar, even with radar absorbing materials), and would also be black rather than white.

There have been stealth ships designed (and built?), but they look nothing like this

Re: serious answer

Oh OKay!

It's actually for the latest James Bond/Austin Powers film production. It hinges around the stern, and launches into space, where it wreaks devastation on the USA. The space shuttle like wings deploy when it needs to return to earth /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Re: It\'s a boat Jim, but not as we know it

Ive got a feeling that the 'top' is actually a cocoon and looks very similar to what Ive seeen in the past when ships were laid up for extended periods. If so, all the conventional top deck arrangements are hidden by what is just a very well constructed overall cover........on the other hand?????

Re: It\'s just been sold...

Forbsie, when I met you I could see the class distinction, my wife noticed it, said you had class and were nice. Duncan I was worried about because he was swaying a lot, but he had a brilliant boat, if I could have afforded one I would have had one, he was telling me how he does his BBQ's of the Bow. Anyway you have never been a nasty one, BUT watch out there are undercover agents working for the MAIN mob, trying to lead us into a false sense of security, don't fall for it, you could end up on rocks off the shetlands /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

No sorry Boatone, don't buy that. The topsides are firmly welded and attached to the hull, it's definitely not a cover.

Cme on, a bit of research needed here Tone, and you're the man to find it out being as how you're the font of all knowledge. Oh no that's not you that's Byron isn't it? How come he's not replied and told us who built it and how he went to school with the deisgners dad and the boat used to be moored at the bottom of his garden?

<font color=blue>Your time will come, when you are the bewhiskered Oldie on the forum who has been around for Yonks and met everyone from Noah to Mr C.Oracle and even Mr Henry Regatta himself. For now you are just a young whippersnapper not even wet behind the ears but one day when you are my age you will be able to say "I knew Byron, god rest him" and the nappy wearers of the day will stand back in amazement maybe even disbelief.

Semi - Serious

It is unusual for me to be able to add anything to JFM's knowledge , this time I might be able to sit in his wash.

Airbus are in fact building a number of boats to cope with the A380 (super-jumbo). The first is a carrier craft which will bomb around Europe . It is being built in Japan as an adapted Ro-Ro. The second is a semi-submersible barge to deliver the bits upriver to the factory in Toulouse. Semi-submersible? Allegedly to get under the bridge !!

SO, nothing by Road ... a truly marine-enabled plane

Re: It\'s a boat Jim, but not as we know it

Although you have been a bit nasty to me I thought I would tell you about the boat to put you out of your misery.

The boat is from the old Eastern Block, it became dormant after the end of the cold war. It was brought over about a year ago by the owner, it is an empty shell with no engines or any mechanical bits inside. What you see is the vessel covered in a tarpaulin type plastic, that when put over the vessel is sprayed to shrink it, a bit like shrink wrap. A year ago tenders were put to company's by the owner to have it turned into a restaurant, nothing has happened, hence it is still sitting there.

I hope that has put some of your minds at rest /forums/images/icons/wink.gif
