Is Your Boat a "She" or a "He"?

Methinks the OP has asked the wrong question. Some people use the word "she" , some say "it", but I have never heard of anyone referring to a boat as "he".

It gets worse: un bateau is masculine, un voilier is masculine, but une bicoque is feminine. No wonder the poor thing's confused.

There’s no particular logic to the gender assigned to French nouns. Otherwise explain to me le sein (the breast: masculine) and la bitte (the gentleman’s sausage: feminine).

It gets worse - the French equivalent to our C word, also a C word, is also masculine.
