Methinks the OP has asked the wrong question. Some people use the word "she" , some say "it", but I have never heard of anyone referring to a boat as "he".

It gets worse: un bateau is masculine, un voilier is masculine, but une bicoque is feminine. No wonder the poor thing's confused.
