Is this on?

I love having people rafted along side, you meet such a variety of people and you never know what the next lot will be like.

.

We were in Yarmouth a few weekends ago and were directed alongside a mobo. A great bunch on board and very generous with the vino ! Then a 44 foot westerly rafted alongside us and they turned out to be great fun as well. and he was flying a blue ensign ! All this and Sharps Doom Bar ashore. Love it !

the other problem with Yarmouth is for the expensive mooring charges

£8 for us in the week. £18 @ weekends - seems par for the Solent. Shepards in Cowes is about the same and showers extra too (same tokens BTW, as Yarmouth, but 10p cheaper!)

How well publicised are these local Yarmouth rules? I'm an occasional visitor, usually crew on someone else's boat and I don't recall them - are they new? Are they in the Pilot book or Reeds, or on a sign at the harbour entrance? Can it be possible that this mystery visitor was unaware of the local rules?

Might it be the case that the visitor was from elsewhere - perhaps on passage - and it didn't occur to them that there was anything wrong with stopping for a night in a useful harbour, being quiet about it, then leaving?

Ignorance of the law is no defence, but where are these rules actually stated?
