I feel i maybe surrounded by a bunch of old cronnies.
What with Oldgit asking "Guess Where?" with the answer in the URL, and Hlb constantly grumbling about BTs and losing his Donkey(never mind his marbles) on B1 site.
And Boatone MUST be old, as his photo is in black and white, and i'm far too young to remember those days, so hes goto be ancient./forums/images/icons/laugh.gif/forums/images/icons/wink.gif.To name a few.

Am i the only Youngster/forums/images/icons/cool.gif around these parts?
I sometimes think we need another Chatroom from Kim, so as you can all go on and moan till your hearts content, but what would the room be called?? Poss, Oap's Tearoom/forums/images/icons/laugh.gif/forums/images/icons/wink.gif

So as a matter of interest, what do you recon might be the average age on here??

I'm 33, but think the average age must be around 50.

I can remember when a very shy and unsure young man first popped up on these forums and begged us 'old gits' to humour him and provide sagely advice and wisdom.

You have done well grasshopper but dont make the unforgiveable mistake of thinking you are now too good to associate with the elder brethren.....retribution can be swift and unbelieveably devastating......be afraid.....be very afraid........

....but then again I dont really care what you say about Oldgit and hlb ..........

Ah well, we are all getting older, kinda like fine wine I like to think......I think you are right about the furum ageing us though, or is it just boat ownership!!

Anyways I think the age thing is irrelavent, I know several 25 year old that are way too 'old' and many 50+ people who are just as 'young' as me! What joins us all here is a shared passion for throwing our money in the water, although the older ones often have more to throw! I think Moose Jnr has the right idea, tag along with someone more senior and let them pay for it all!! In rich good looking old gits out there wanna pay for my boating?

Don't get me wrong Pops, I have never thought i was to good for this forum, I usually think this Forum is too good for me./forums/images/icons/shocked.gif
I have recieved a huge wealth of information from people on here, probably mostly coming from the old genertation, to which i am extremely grateful, and i hope it continues.
But we all talk on here, and being up North, i will unlikey meet a lot of you, So you kind of build up a Mental picture about what the person at the other end of the web is like, and with the way the forum has gone over the last few day, its like its full of Oap with nothing better to do with there time but to complain and cause trouble. And i think its hillarious.

This post was meant in good fun, and never meant to offend anyone./forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Noticed in Yachting NZ's current "Keelboat Quarterly" in an article about the ages of ocean racing crew -

On board "Bare Essentials" there were just six good men all with grey hair, those that still have hair, and 88 hours to Noumea. This crew was voted the staff choice by the employees of the Cercle Nautique Calédonien (average age of these girls about 19).

So the being older bit may have some advantages, but I have been out of luck so far /forums/images/icons/smile.gif.

You are treading on very thin ice here young man! Who do you call upon for advice, help and assitance. How to fix your PC, what flights to get you down to the boat show for bugger all? Offers to be picked up from the airport and taken back. As I have posted on here B4 - youth is wasted on the young! I also reckon our staying power is considerably greater than yours! Contary to popular belive, those of us who are over 50 do not read SAGA and are not dead from the neck down! In fact, chances are we will out pace you young whippersnappers/forums/images/icons/smile.gif. I'd like to see you charge around on a jetski at 51/forums/images/icons/wink.gifOh hell, I'm 52 in 6 weeks time - who gives a dam, age is but a number! And remember you are as young as the women you feel! So if SWMBO is older than you........... well need I say more. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif So stop moaning and get on with life!

Boat owners index

How about we invent a boat owners index that everyone signs off with. Say, boat length (in ft) divided by owners age. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif.

Anything over 2 and you are a rich young thing!

I'm a 0.6 /forums/images/icons/frown.gif

So who has the highest score on the forum??

- Andrew (0.6)
