Into the night

I always sail-cruise with the moto of

" If I'm thinking of doing something, then I should be doing it"

Turning back wasn't what i wanted to do ...but :) Just been talking to Kwacker about this and he was surprised at the sea conditions too. We live and learn

Thanks...... I have to say that I felt a bit of a whimp last night until the wind picked up about 3am :) Turned over and went back to sleep with a smug smile on my face.

It's always a problem trying to do this journey at this time of year and I got caught out several years ago and I dont want to suffer that experience again.

As I said before, I use to enjoy night cruising but these days it's more trouble than it's worth.

Tom

You'd have felt more of a fool if you'd set off and it all went tits up. You definitely did the right thing. The old saying comes to mind, I'd rather be sat in port feeling pleased I'm not out there rather than out there wishing I was in port.

There's always another day.

Where were you heading, Deganwy? :D

[I must get out of this habit of taking the Mick out of Littleship's speed]

Did that Passage earlier today
What a nightmare:D
The tide was running at over 2 kts the wind was a least an F3
We had to zig zag (think yotties call it jibby jybin or sumatt) through parked boats flotsam and jetsom for at least 1/4 of a mile it was quite concerning
Only that the vis was good (we could see our destination from our berth) else we wouldn't have ventured out:eek:
Aborted the entry to Deganwy
Well
By then, 8 mins after we set out
It had started to rain and we had to have the wipers on
The rhythym of which and the boat was moving up and down you know
Made us feel rather queezy:eek:
Nervously we came about
About 800 yards off of Conwy
And with more ziggy zagging we finally started to breath a sigh of relief as we nervously entered Conwy marina and managed to berth ok despite the 2kts of wind
Phew!
We were glad we aborted
At Night:eek: No chance!
Well done Little Ship for turning back
We know how you felt;)

Philiz........Little Ship is faster than the Stealth Bomber :)

Kwacker..... I could tell you had a difficult journey today :p

Lord knows when I'll get to go up to Glasson with the forecasts for the next few days and more lows coming in below Iceland :( I could be here for days weeks months....... nawww

Maybe faster but not quite as tough I would suggest!

Kwacker..... I could tell you had a difficult journey today :p

Was he rowing?:)

Is the fun box empty then?:)

Going to be gorgeous weather tomorrow between 10.00 and 16.00

Surely the LS warp drive could be used just this once...:D

Ok for a bit more varnishing then?

The plus point about night passages are,
1 There are few people about. Idiots are normally moored up..
2 The sectors on lights really show up
3 It can be less windy.
4 Getting bearings to avoid shipping is easier.
Minus points
1 Pot bobbers
2 General Flotsom and jetsom.

I suppose coming from a raggie background that normally took days to get anywhere, it just got dark..
Living on an Island also means with tides, you cut down the use of the boat if you avoid the hours of darkness.

I actually probably use the boat 25% of the time in the dark
I got in about an hour ago..
