Hi guys.
Is it possible to buy and install a calorifier, either buying the parts as required individually or is there a kit someone sells for a Mercruiser 5.0L 220HP V8 Engine with Alpha 1 Sterndrive.
If you see my other posts I should say I have decided to buy a Bayliner 2452. Its unfortunately not with a diesel as I would have preferred, but I am really pleased with the price I am paying, and that more than makes up for the extra cost in petrol to derv. Its with a great trailer, so I can drive to where I want to fish/dive/cruise, launch and therefore not have to cruise miles around the coast to get to different places I want to anchor. The cockpit area is great for my sporting needs and the wife likes the bigger windows, and the booth type and table seating arrangement this offers to the more sport cruisers with sitting in the V berth. Inside headroom is great too.
But the negative is no hot water. I really want a hot tap/shower, at least in the cockpit area and possibly hot tap in the galley.
I can see calorifiers online from 15L upwards, the 2452 does have loads of space in compartments under the deck each side of the engine, for the calorifier, pump etc but I am looking for guidance to spec the correct size etc for the 220hp mercruiser.
.
Has anyone installed a hot water system retrospectively?
Thanks Steve.
