'bout time you either fitted a second engine or a bow thruster then .... so you can conform to your obligations.

10c ... oh - you're referring to rules ... sorry - I thought you were referring to the size of the yachts engine!

No - you have to intepret the colregs - its right there with the bit that says you have to give way to yachties ... and even more so if they are racing! ... Jeeze - you're the sort that get stinkies a bad name!! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Yes 2 sets of col regs. The one the yotties believe is right & the one everybody has to abide by.

Don't forget the get out of jail card rule. both skippers must keep a 360 deg lookout & take avoiding action to prevent a collision.

Simple really; If they are bigger than you, you give way

So ... I need to eat a bit more and become a 30 stone skipper ... I'll be bigger than almost all other skippers out there and have right of way over everyone! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

[/ QUOTE ] And it normally happens when the Stinky has slowed down to give way to another (equally surprised) yachtie in front of him ... and then the mayhem starts ....

I find that a 6ozs lead propelled from my uptider in their general direction has the desired effect, not sure why they aim at us when we are at anchor black balls or no black balls, I think it assists them to maintain a course, but I could be wrong, maybe they think they are indestructable?

I think you should always hoist a black ball when at anchor - full stop.
There is nowt in Colregs that states being in a designated ancorage area precludes it and if you think about in any anchorage area at some tiome you will have boats ancjored, underway and making way.

I wasnt in an anchorage area, I would not have the cheek to anchor there, it was a fully serviced floating pontoon with water and 240v, navigation lights , showers, WCs, shops etc that I was attached to.

I have never used my Anchor light in such places.

Off thread sorry but

When I was in Bray on the designated Trots. I put my anchor light on but noticed I was the only one that did so turned it off in case it interfered with other nav lights.

Trots are marked on the chart so should I have put the anchor light on ?
It was very dark I would have preferred it on.

I would and do put my anchor light on in Braye when on a buoy. Can't see how it would confuse anyone and if someone did hit me, I would like to be sure that I was doing all I could to be visible....
