Real teak in good condition is a lovely thing - if you can afford it. Synthetic teak is like silicon boobs - done well it may look right, but it doesn't have the right feel.

Changing some, but not all, to synthetic would be unspeakably naff in my eyes
I think the lady chose the wrong surgeon or you weren't with a lady 😳

There wasn’t much cost difference in fitting from new at yard on ours hence we had Flexiteak factory fitted. Whether retrofit is cheaper I doubt but you used to see the fitters rolling out the synthetic teak carpets down at Hamble point marina as a retrofit on new deliveries. Leaving aside the point re colouration based on small amount of teak capping we have I regret we didn’t have synthetic toe rails and cockpit cappings (and saved on the Semcco each season) We are in uk but have never seen the pink colouration but the retrofitted we have seen on other boats from around 2014 looks more orange tinge than ours.
