I think the lady chose the wrong surgeon or you weren't with a ladyReal teak in good condition is a lovely thing - if you can afford it. Synthetic teak is like silicon boobs - done well it may look right, but it doesn't have the right feel.
Changing some, but not all, to synthetic would be unspeakably naff in my eyes
Expect the costs to be about the same for real teak vs synthetic.I’ll let you know in the next few days.
Quote from the first supplier back for the swim platform works is circa £5k for removal, templating, supply and fit. What sort of a price is fake for say a 40ft bathing platform

I have had several quotes over the years and the pricing was always the same of more for plastic so I went with wood.Expect the costs to be about the same for real teak vs synthetic.
There is a LOT of work removing the old and repairing the surface before either can be applied.
I think it is more a case of what you want rather than the cost.
Be interesting to see how it turns out.having my knackered real teak replaced hopefully this week with Flexiteak. I shopped around at the Southampton Boatshow, and decided on flexiteak based on a combination of look and cost. There were some similar products that came out considerably more expensive. Swim platform, transom step and bow area all being done.
Been dealing with Flexiteak in Hamble, and so far so good.
